Snowy Mountains Travel
The Snowy
Mountains - sometimes nicknamed
the Snowies, are a region of New
South Wales in Australia in the south
east of the state. The highest region in
Australia and one of the cooler areas of
New South Wales, they are notable for
their ski-fields and are the centre of
snow sports in New South Wales.
Thredbo
is a ski resort within Kosciuszko
National Park in the Snowy
Mountains of New South Wales,
Australia. It is located on the Alpine
Way road and is 1380 metres above sea
level.
Jindabyne
("Jindy") is just below the snow line
and essentially acts as a dormitory
for the ski fields in the winter,
especially for Perisher
Blue. Staying in Jindabyne is
cheaper than staying on the snow, but
you need to be prepared for an hour long
"snow commute" at the beginning and end
of each day.
Perisher
Blue is a ski resort in the
Snowy Mountains of New
South Wales, Australia. About 6 hours
south of Sydney, it also is used in
summer although it is not quite as
popular. Perisher Blue was originally
four separate ski fields: Perisher,
Smiggins Hole, Blue Cow and Guthega. It
is now a single resort, sharing lift
passes and are all linked through a
variety of lifts. Perisher Blue
comprises of 50 lifts.
